J&J Contractors, Inc. was selected through the State of Massachusetts DCAM competitive bid program as the general contractor for the addition and renovations of Quaboag Regional Middle/High School in Warren, MA.
The project consisted of the renovation of the current 60,000 SF middle school and high school along with the addition of a new 110,000 SF facility. The site-work scope of work included the layout of three baseball/softball fields, a football field, a soccer field, and a running track.
The project was multi-phased (11 phases) in order to minimize the disruption of classroom and extra-curricular activities as the building was occupied by staff and students during construction.
During the renovations hazardous materials were exposed and removed from the existing middle/high school. J&J came across major Indian Artifacts in the course of completing the site-work. All of the necessary measures were taken to preserve the historical significance of the priceless artifacts.
J&J also confronted several unforeseen circumstances that challenged the start of the project. Construction was delayed sixty days by the awarding authority in order to produce enough time to secure funding for bids higher than projected. J&J worked meticulously with Quaboag Regional School District and the project architect to condense the schedule and complete the project on time and within budget.
