J&J Contractors, Inc. has teamed with Robert Siegel Architects of New York, NY for the design of the Land Port of Entry. The new Land Port will serve as the main thruway between Van Buren, ME and Saint Leonard, NB, Canada.

The new 44,000 SF Land Port of Entry will be built for the Department of Homeland Security’s Custom and Border Protection and will be constructed on approximately 10 acres of a 21 acre site adjacent to the existing Land Port of Entry.

The scope of work for the construction phase includes the demolition of existing structures, site and civil work, utility installation and relocation, landscaping, foundations, steel and concrete structures, mechanical and electrical work, interior finishes, physical and electronic security, traffic design and roadway construction, and concrete and asphalt paving.

The scope also includes the removal of an existing railroad spur and plate girder bridge and providing access to an adjacent town park. Construction of the facility will conform to the GSA Design Excellence and Construction Excellence requirements.

This project has a goal of LEED Silver Certification.
