J&J Contractors, Inc. was selected through the State of Massachusetts DCAM competitive bid program as the general contractor for the renovation and expansion of the Brockton Public Library in Brockton, MA.
The new building was constructed to be completely handicapped accessible with two new elevators.
The new library doubled the previous floor space to 47,000 square feet and increased the seating capacity from 64 to 174. Many features of the current building - the carved woodwork, the marble foyer, the WPA mural - were preserved and restored.
The new facility also includes special rooms for tutoring, quiet study, group study and public meetings; and more state of the art computer workstations.
