J&J Contractors, Inc. was selected through the State of Massachusetts DCAM competitive bid program as the general contractor for the construction of the new Area B-2 Police Station in Roxbury, MA.
The new Area B-2 Police Station is a three-story, 34,450 SF building in the heart of Dudley Square. The Police Station is set back twenty feet from the street and provides three handicapped parking spaces at the front of the building.
Behind the Police Station is a fenced in parking area with 89 parking spaces for the City of Boston Police Department. The building will be the first LEED Silver Certified building built by the City of Boston.
On the first floor, there is a public lobby with a front desk. Behind the front desk is the central operations area, a suite for the Commander, the guardroom, and the booking/detention areas with 20 holding cells. Adjacent to the detention area are a drive-thru sallyport, maintenance garage, and electrical rooms.
On the second floor there is a public community room, the detective areas, and the mechanical room. The third floor houses the locker rooms, physical fitness room, and the boiler room.
