J&J Contractors, Inc. was contracted by the US Army Corps of Engineers for the construction of the new Army Reserve Center Complex in Newport, RI for the use of the U.S. Army Reserve and the Rhode Island Army Reserves.
The new Army Reserve Center Army Reserve Center consists of three buildings, a 2 story Training Building, with approximately 59,000 SF, a one-bay Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS) building, of 3,100 SF, that contains functions for administrative duties, and vehicle maintenance and training, and a pre-engineered steel, Unheated Storage Building of approximately 2,700 SF.
The Training Building, which contains functions for administrative duties, educational training and unit and weapon storage, has a 2 story main mass, with an attached 1-1/2 story mass that contains the assembly hall. The ARC facilities are located in an industrial area of Naval Station Newport, bordered by large warehouse type buildings to the west and north, and bounded by the installation perimeter on the east and south. This site and consists of approximately 7.5 acres.
Also included in the project was site preparation, MEP and POV parking, access roads, fencing, and extension of utilities to serve the project. This facility will support 400 permanent USAR reservists and full time support personnel. Additional military and civilian personnel can be accommodated on a visiting basis.
