J&J Contractors, Inc. was contracted by the US Army Corps of Engineers for the design and construction of the new Armed Forces Reserve Center Complex at Fort Devens located in Ayer, MA.
J&J Contractors, Inc. has teamed with Symmes, Maini & McKee Associates of Cambridge, MA for the design of the Reserve Center. The center will house the Massachusetts National Guard, the Massachusetts Army Reserve, and US Marine Corps.
The completed project will include the demolition of 11 existing structures and the site clearing of the existing reserve center to prepare the site for the new 55-acre, 7-building, 276,000 SF complex.
The site-work and concrete was self performed by J&J. The project also included the installation of 90,000 SY of bituminous paving and 160,000 SF of concrete apron.
The seven buildings consist of office buildings, vehicle maintenance facilities and training facilities. The project has a goal of being LEED Gold certified.
