Project Description:

J&J/BBIX (a JV) was selected by the US Army Corps of Engineers to design and construct an office/administration building for the use of the Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.

The Acquisition Management Facility consisted of a two-story 40,000 SF administration building.  The building included structural steel back up, masonry veneer, blast resistant ribbon windows around the entire building, MEP/FP systems, and underground utilities.  A large portion of both floors were designed to be an open space for workstations to be provided at a later time for the users. Other features included a demonstration room, numerous large and medium sized conference rooms with audio visual capabilities, kitchenettes, copy areas, and storage areas.

One of the main design goals for the facility was to allow for future addition and expansion. Substantial thought went into the design to ensure an easy connection to the existing building for a Phase 2 addition. In order to accommodate this, aluminum windows with blank panels were installed on two locations of the east wall for an easy connection point on both floors. These spaces in the building will then become corridors between the first and second phases.

J&J Contractors, Inc. was responsible for all on-site and off-site supervisory personnel, quality control, project management, and change cost estimating work. Furthermore, we self performed all of the site and concrete work designated in the project specifications.

This project is This project has a goal of being LEED Certified and is currently under review by the USGBC.
